Blooming Roses

At the edge of the ocean, beneath a sky softened by sunset, the roses gathered drops of rain.

Some had opened wide, revealing bright layers of color. Others remained in small, tightly folded buds, holding their beauty close until they were ready. The same rain touched them all, yet each flower grew at its own pace.

She stood before them and listened to the waves. She had carried so many unfinished thoughts to the shore—questions about her future, memories she could not change, and the feeling that she should be further along by now.

The ocean continued its steady movement. Waves reached the sand and slipped away, leaving room for the next. Along the horizon, the sunset spread a narrow ribbon of warmth beneath the clouds. Rain fell through the fading light, gathering on leaves and tracing the curves of petals.

For a moment, she let herself simply be there.

In “Blooming Roses,” the sunset offers a gentle place to set down the day. The ocean suggests the movement of feelings, arriving and receding. The rain becomes a symbol of release and nourishment, while the roses bring their many colors into the same changing world.

One rose blooms in unexpected shades of green and gold. Others open in soft peach, outlined in red. Together, they make a garden where difference belongs.

Looking at them, she felt less hurried. The unopened buds were part of the beauty, too.

She walked home with rain on her shoulders and the last light of sunset in her memory. Tomorrow still held its questions, but tonight she could give herself a little kindness.

Like the roses beside the ocean, she could take her time opening.
