Elemental Balance
There were mornings when she felt like fire—full of ideas, determination, and a restless need to move forward. Other days, she longed for water: somewhere quiet to soften, breathe, and rest.
For a long time, she wondered which part of herself she was supposed to be.
Then she began to paint.
Red swept across the canvas in bold, reaching strokes. Blue curled into waves. Between them, yellow opened a space where both could meet. She let the colors move without asking one to overpower the other.
As she stepped back, she saw room for feelings she had struggled to hold together. She could be hopeful and tired. She could feel anger and still choose kindness. She could pursue a dream while allowing herself time to rest.
The small symbol at the center became a place for her eyes to return—a reminder to notice what needed attention today.
“Elemental Balance” invites us to explore the many feelings that share our inner world. Fire might mean courage to one person and exhaustion to another. Blue might feel peaceful, sorrowful, or alive with possibility. Each viewer brings a different story.
At High Stakes Mental Health Foundation, we encourage that freedom of expression. Art offers a place to explore feelings in our own colors, at our own pace, without needing to explain every brushstroke.
What would balance look like in your colors today?
