Strength Through the Rain

Strength Through the Rain

Rain gathered on the crow’s feathers as he stood above the restless sea. Below him, waves struck the rocks and scattered into white foam. He tightened his grip on the ledge and watched the horizon.

He had hoped for clear skies that morning. There was somewhere he wanted to go, and he had already waited so long.

But the wind was strong. For now, he stayed close to the rock, where a small ridge offered shelter. He tucked his wings against his body and let himself wait.

A Place to Hold On

At first, the crow watched every cloud, searching for a sign that the storm would end. Each bright patch disappeared before he could trust it.

Eventually, he turned his attention to what was near: the firm stone beneath his feet, the shelter beside him, the breath moving through his small body.

He could not quiet the ocean. He could find a safer place to stand.

Some days feel like that. We wake with plans, only to find ourselves carrying worry, sadness, or exhaustion. Even familiar tasks can ask more of us than we have to give.

On those days, taking care of ourselves may mean slowing down, accepting help, or telling someone, “Today is difficult.”

Light Across the Water

Later, a break appeared between the clouds. A narrow band of gold reached across the sea, touching the wet edges of the rocks.

The rain continued, but now the crow could see farther.

He lifted his head. There would be time to decide when to fly. For this moment, he watched the light.

Strength Through the Rain makes room for both the storm and that small opening of hope. Its dark blues and grays hold the weight of a difficult day, while the golden sky offers somewhere for the eye to rest.

Perhaps you recognize something of yourself in this quiet bird. Perhaps you, too, are waiting for conditions to change.

While you wait, you deserve shelter, kindness, and someone beside you.
