Devotion — A Quiet Place to Rest
They lean toward each other, their forms flowing together in deep teal and warm orange. Between them, a gentle light seems to gather—as though the simple act of being close has made the world a little softer.
To me, Devotion tells the story of a love expressed through small, steady gestures. Listening when words come slowly. Sitting beside someone when there is nothing to say. Remembering to ask, “How are you, really?” and making time for the answer.
The teal carries a sense of depth, like feelings we sometimes struggle to explain. The orange offers warmth, like a familiar presence beside us. Each color remains visible within the embrace. There is room here for two people, each with their own feelings, needs, and dreams.
During difficult seasons, we may not know how to ask for comfort. We may worry that our sadness makes us hard to love. This artwork offers a tender reminder: we can be worthy of care even when we feel uncertain, tired, or unfinished.
Devotion also reaches inward. It lives in the promise to treat ourselves gently, to rest when we need to, and to honor the boundaries that help us feel safe. We can care deeply for another person while continuing to care for ourselves.
Look at the space where these figures meet. Perhaps it brings someone to mind. Perhaps it reminds you of the kindness you are learning to offer yourself.
